The Philippine Air Force (PAF)’s Long Range Patrol Aircraft (LRPA) Acquisition Project, which seeks to acquire 2 maritime patrol aircraft, is reportedly restarting in 2021.
The said acquisition project was initiated during the first horizon of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program, however, several bidding attempts were not successful.
“The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is preparing to re-introduce one of its long-forgotten projects, which it now plans to re-implement under Fiscal Year 2021,” MaxDefense Philippines said on November 4, 2020.
“As part of the proposed procurements submitted by the Department of National Defense (DND) to the Senate during its FY2021 budget hearing, the LRPA project was among those proposed to be included as part of the Php5 billion Unprogrammed Appropriations to the AFP Modernization Program,” it added.
