Do The U.S. Presidential Election Numbers Make Sense?
WNU Editor: I promised on Thursday that I was going to do a quick examination on the US Presidential election results, and report back on Sunday. I personally did not expect anything, but in my quick analysis I did find anomalies in three of the five swing seats. Basically more votes cast for the Presidency than for members of Congress in each of these three states. I would think that the numbers would match and/or come close to it. After-all. If you are voting for your President, would you also vote for your representative for Congress. But in my quick examination I did notice differences in county numbers for President and Congress..
But what I have done is not enough. I need to collect more data. My plan is to wait until the final votes are tallied .... which should be in the coming days. After that go to each swing-state and go county to county and count the total votes for President, then compare this number with the official total (They should match). Then do the same for each Congressional district in this state, and count the total votes cast for Congress. With these numbers I will then compare them and hope that the total Presidential numbers and the total Congressional numbers come close to matching.
I will also be comparing these results to the results of 2016 to see if they correlate.
My goal is to be finished by next Sunday at this time. If the numbers are close. No problem. But if there is a significant difference between the Presidential and congressional vote numbers in 2020 for a swing-state, but none in 2016, this will then raise more uncomfortable questions than answers.
