Such a conflict will result in the immediate closure of the Straits of Hormuz to oil traffic, and a loss of almost a quarter of the world's oil production.

$300/barrel for oil and the economic shock-waves that such a war would unleash is something that the West is unprepared for. I also sense that there is no Western public appetite to get involved in such a conflict, nor any real political will.
