Daily Mail: AOC and The Squad celebrate as Biden proposes the CDC begin new 60-DAY moratorium on evictions: President admits move may be challenged in court

* The CDC extended the eviction moratorium for 60 days

* It risks being challenged in court * President Joe Biden admits it may not be constitutional

* The order will allow more time 'to further increase vaccination rates,' the CDC said, calling it an 'effective public health measure'

* It will target counties with elevated rates of coronavirus infections

* Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to bring back Congress to vote on the matter

AOC and other members of the Squad were seen celebrating on the steps of the Capitol on Tuesday after the Center for Disease Control and Prevention extended the eviction moratorium for 60 days, a move that risks being challenged in court and one that President Joe Biden admits may not be constitutional.

CDC director Rochelle Walensky signed an order that determined the 'evictions of tenants for failure to make rent or housing payments could be detrimental to public health control measures' to slow the spread of COVID, the agency announced.

The order expands the eviction moratorium until October 3 and applies to counties 'experience substantial and high levels' of COVID transmission.

WNU Editor: I thought the only government institution that can make laws in the U.S. is the U.S. Congress. Apparently not.

The decision by the CDC today to prohibit evictions tells me (as a landlord) that rental properties in the U.S. have now been nationalized. Tenants are no longer required to pay their rent, and landlords cannot evict renters under any circumstances. In short. It is now a crime to make someone pay for living on your property.

Needless to say that landlords must still pay their property tax, insurance, and mortgage to the banks.

Makes me wonder if private property exists in the U.S.?

But what is even more galling (and disturbing), is that the Supreme Court has already ruled very clearly that these measures are unconstitutional!!!

But it makes no difference.

The White House has made the decision to ignore this past Supreme Court decision .... Jen Psaki says 'old-school' Biden would never have pushed new 60 day eviction moratorium if he didn't think it had 'legal standing' (Daily Mail).

Wow!!! Am I the only one who knows how dangerous this is.

Take it from this blogger who has lived in countries where the rule of law was not respected. You do not want to live in such a place where the executive branch of government dictates what can and cannot be done.

The above video where Tucker Carlson explains why this is a momentous change is spot on.

Update: Yup. This sums up why this is being done .... Biden buys time with new eviction ban (The Hill). This also tells me that they have no solutions on solving America's home crisis.

 Update #2: One more observation.

The media and political narrative is that the economy is improving. That life is going to get better.

But if everything is getting better why are draconian measures like this eviction moratorium being implemented? Why is the US Federal Reserve pumping tens of billions into the system every month? Why is inflation accelerating? Why is household and government debt exploding? You tell me.
