As the largest number of wheeled armored vehicles on the service of the current Army of Vietnam, BTR-60 armored vehicles are being served in many major forces, including forces our Marines.

Armored vehicles carrying troops BTR-60PB of the Marine Brigade, 147, Region 1 The Navy coordinate with the amphibious ships of the 125th Brigade, Region 2 Navy.

There are dozens of different types of armored vehicles currently in the army, but the largest is BTR-60.

Specifically, according to information published by the International Peace Research Institute, Vietnam currently has 500 armored vehicles carrying BTR-60 troops.

All of these armored vehicles were provided to us by the Soviet Union during the resistance war against the US to save the country.

he version of BTR-60 armored vehicle used by Vietnam was BTR-60PB, at the end of the American Resistance War, specifically in Ho Chi Minh campaign, we used quite effectively the type of armored army this on the battlefield.

Basically, this type of tire armor is quite useful for the Vietnamese army, especially its ability to wade - very suitable for our country's terrain.

The car is 7.56 meters long, 2.82 meters wide and 2.06 meters high. The vehicle's crew consisted of 2 people and the vehicle was capable of carrying up to 16 soldiers with full equipment.

When traveling on land, the speed of the BTR-60 is very large, the maximum can reach 80 km/h. Meanwhile, when amphibious, this armored vehicle can move up to 10 km/h.

With the ability to wade well and carry a large number of soldiers, the BTR-60 armor was used by Vietnam to equip the Marine Corps forces, responsible for amphibious transport.

The weakness of BTR-60 when performing landing missions is that the vehicle is not equipped with rear doors. Soldiers in vehicles when going in and out of vehicles must go through roof doors.

Vietnamese soldiers trained in amphibious attacks from BTR-60 armored vehicles, so they could see soldiers having to get out of the roofs and jump to the ground instead of having doors at the back of the vehicles like many other armored vehicles.

In addition, the car is also arranged many "apricot holes", allowing soldiers to be able to fire around the vehicle (except for the rear) through the apricot holes.

Also due to the use of tires and has a fairly light weight - weighs only 10 tons. Therefore, BTR-60 often appears in urban areas, taking part in the task of preserving inner city security on important occasions or responding to floods and natural disasters.
