At the international exhibition Defense & Security 2019, which opened on November 18, 2019 in Thailand, the China State Shipbuilding Corporation China Shipbuilding State Corporation (CSSC) presented a mock-up of the project 071E landing helicopter dock ship being built for the Royal Thai Navy.

A contract worth about $ 130 million to build a project 071E landing helicopter dock ship for the Thai fleet was signed in Beijing on September 9, 2019.

Project 071E is an export version of the project 071 (Kunlunshan type) landing helicopter docking ships (LPD) under construction for the PLA Navy.
