Satlink, a Spanish company specializing in satellite communications, has showcased the most advanced solutions currently available in the market to the Special Operations Forces of the Spanish Army as well as other government security agencies.

The company has carried out simulations in real-life scenarios on a very practical day, called Operation Beyond the Horizon, in collaboration with Inmarsat, the leading global operator in mobile, satellite telecommunications, whose services Satlink distributes in our country.

Demonstrations were carried out by Satlink and Inmarsat Global Government personnel at series of simulated checkpoints including a base of operations, a headquarters, two mobile units and soldiers on foot.

In each of these scenarios, attendees were shown a wide variety of communications solutions for areas without terrestrial coverage and in 'communications-on-the-move' situations featuring connection to the I4 (L-band) and I5 (Ka-band) Inmarsat satellites.

Among the solutions shown, it is worth mentioning the L-TAC service that allows converting a standard UHF tactical radio into a device with global voice and data connectivity via L-band, regardless of the local available radio network infrastructure, providing beyond line of sight connectivity in terrestrial, aerial and maritime environments through the use of a small antenna and a Slingshot converter frequency.

Likewise, mobile patrols carried out demonstrations of WiSL antennas, which allows connections of up to 3Mbps up and down despite their small size, over the L-band I4 service, as well as G2X Land, the solution for the terrestrial sector offered by the Global Xpress satellite constellation of Inmarsat, the first high-speed Ka band network with worldwide coverage.

It should be noted that Satlink is the only Spanish company certified for the Spanish Navy to provide the services offered by this generation of satellites and an Inmarsat Global Government Preferred Partner for Spain.

On the other hand, a new Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) called Atlantis and designed by Everis for reconnaissance, objective acquisition, surveillance and intelligence operations, also known as ISTAR missions and previously limited to larger unmanned aerial vehicles was shown.

Atlantis also integrates several additional equipment, such as the Cobham 200 UAV satellite antenna and for streaming video with 8K resolution, through the Inmarsat SBUAV service, a low-cost, lightweight satellite communications solution for smaller unmanned aircraft.

Finally, more than a dozen solutions were shown from the following Satlink partners: Digital Barriers, Seven technologies Group, GetSat, Ansur Technologies and GRC.

According to Oscar Santidrian, director of the Government unit of Satlink, "on this day we have been able to gather, in collaboration with our partners, the most advanced solutions with the highest connectivity capacity in the market, essential for the elite of the bodies of State security, given the sensitivity of the operations they carry out ".
