PHL Navy Eyeing to Acquire 12 New Fastcrafts

The Philippine Navy is eyeing to acquire 12 fastcrafts to help secure waters in western Mindanao against smuggling, piracy, and terrorism, this was revealed by Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad.
“The Navy is requesting if we can acquire 12 fastcrafts, we can secure the vast waters of Mindanao, Sulu, Sulu Sea and all the waters thereat,” Vice Admiral Empedrad said as quoted by Manila Bulletin.
The Navy is reportedly eyeing to acquire fastcrafts that are capable of staying at sea for at least seven days.
He said that the plan is to replace its ageing fleet of fastcrafts “and if we can get at least 10 ships we can secure the waters of Mindanao from being used by the enemies of the state.”
“I’m sure when the President sees the project, he will approve it,” he added. “Ready na kami eh. Hopefully in our next conference with the President, hopefully we can present this, so that we can seek the approval of the President.”
