Army Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software and Solutions (CHESS) is increasing use of commercial software for acquisition and contracting professionals.

Working in conjunction with Army Contracting Command, CHESS reached a new deal with Minitab Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) to help Navy weapons and service buyers obtain software licenses. The aim is to fortify the Lean Six Sigma (LSS) program – an effort to help U.S. military acquisition professionals refine efficient and cost-reducing contracting and development procedures.

“The goal is for Army organizations to become self-sufficient in LSS techniques, to leverage gains obtained thus far to reduce inefficiencies across the Army and to provide for future program successes,” said Dawn Bare,

The Minitab ELA provides commercial-off-the-shelf LSS annual subscription software licenses, media, training, technical services, and maintenance for Minitab Statistical Software.

From the beginning of the Army LSS program deployment in 2006, Minitab has been the statistical analysis software used to teach the official Program of lnstruction.  Minitab use is required for Army LSS practitioner's Black Belt (BB) or Master Black Belt (MBB) project execution. There are currently 11,700 individuals trained as a BB or MBB.

 A $2.8 million deal with ELA is a firm-fixed price delivery order executed against the Navy’s Enterprise Software Initiative Blanket Purchase Agreement.
