White House Warns Russia That The U.S. Will Protect Its Interests In Syria
Washington Times: White House to Russia: U.S. will protect our interests in Syria
The White House responded to warnings from Russia Monday by saying the U.S. will do whatever’s necessary to protect America’s military and its interests in Syria, where a U.S. warplane shot down a Syrian military plane.
“Obviously, we’re going to do what we can to protect our interests,” said White House press secretary Sean Spicer. “We will always preserve the right of self-defense.”

WNU Editor: IMHO all sides are now testing each other .... Assad and Putin are testing the US in Syria. Trump is answering. (Tom Rogan, Washington Times). But Russia has drawn their red line and I do not think they are going to back down .... nor do I see the White House backing down either. My prediction .... both sides are going to try their best to avoid each other, but it is now all-out war in the city of Raqqa and elsewhere in eastern Syria, and I have trouble seeing how all of these sides can avoid each other on a battlefield that is changing everyday.
Update: Dunford: Communication with Russia still open after Syria shootdown (Defense News).
