Army Chief To Review Combined Graduation Parade At Airforce Academy On 17 June
A grand Combined Graduation Parade will be held at Air Force Academy Dundigal on 17 June 2017 to mark the successful completion of pre-commissioning training of Flight Cadets belonging to various branches of Indian Air Force. The Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat will be the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer of the Passing out Parade. During the function, he will confer the ‘President’s Commission’ to 120 graduating trainees of various branches. The ceremony includes, besides granting the ‘President’s Commission’ on behalf of the Honourable President of India, the presentation of ‘Wings and Brevets’ to the Flight Cadets who would be successfully completing Flying/Navigation training respectively. The award of ‘Wings or Brevets’ represents a significant milestone in every Military Aviator’s career and is the culmination of a very demanding but rewarding period of training. The Chief Guest will also be awarding ‘Wings’ to officers of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard on successful completion of their flying training at Air Force Academy. The Parade will be followed by a static and aerobatic display of aircraft used by IAF. The mega event will be witnessed by the parents and relatives of the Flight Cadets and the military dignitaries from Hyderabad region as well

The Flight Cadet from ‘Flying Branch’ standing first in the Order of Merit will be awarded with the Sword of Honour for his accomplishment and will have the privilege of commanding the Parade besides receiving the President’s Plaque. The Reviewing Officer will also present the President’s Plaque to those who stood first in the Overall Merit in the Navigation and Ground Duty Branches.
Air Force Academy is a premier training institute of Indian Air Force where selected men and women drawn from a cross section of the society, through a rigorous selection process, are transformed into professional Air Warriors to shoulder the responsibility as Leaders and to manage the aerospace resources of the nation. Besides physical training, Flight Cadets are imparted specialist training in their respective branches such as Flying, Navigation, Administration, Logistics, Accounts, Education and Meteorology. The training for each course commences in January and July every year, and culminates with the ‘Combined Graduation Parade’ in December and June respectively. On Commissioning, they are granted the rank of ‘Flying Officer’ in the IAF. The present batch which will be graduating on 17 Jun 2017 had commenced its training in July 2016 and consists of 25 women and 95 men.

As a custom, on the eve of Graduation Parade, the Reviewing Officer would attend the Ceremonial Guest Night and interact with graduating Flights Cadets and their parents. During this event, he will award trophies to the Flight Cadets who have excelled in their respective streams
