Occar to Order Six More A-330 Tankers for Multinational Fleet

On 16 February 2017, the Defence Ministers of Belgium, Germany and Norway signed a Declaration of Intent to join the European Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF) of Airbus 330-200 transport and tanker aircraft, created by the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

OCCAR is managing the Acquisition Phase of the NATO-owned MMF on behalf of NATO, and the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) will be responsible for managing the Follow-on Support and Operations Support Phase.

When in the coming months the three nations officially join the MMF MoU, the OCCAR-EA MMF Programme Division will be in a position to exercise contract options for six additional A330-200 MRTT

aircraft for the MMF inventory, bringing the total number of aircraft on order to eight. With this potential enlargement, the MMF initiative will further increase its importance to deliver a key capability to the European nations.

Based on the increasing interest in the MMF Programme expressed by other European nations, even a further growth of the number of aircraft could become possible in the future.
