Mumbai: A day after Manohar Parrikar resigned from the post of Defence Minister to become Goa CM, speculations are rife that Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis may get promoted to Centre to become minister in Narendra Modi government.

Also, Maharashtra may get new CM after Fadnavis gets ministerial berth in Centre.

According to a Zee Biz report, Fadnavis may become next Defence Minister in Modi government.

Arun Jaitley has been given additional charged of Defence Ministry.

Who will become new Maharashtra CM?

Reportedly, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil could replace Fadnavis as the Chief Minister.

Noteworthy, Fadnavis has led BJP to an amazing victory in recently held BMC polls

According to Maharashtra Times, if talks in political circles are to be believed, Fadnavis may get promoted to the Centre and Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil could replace him as the Chief Minister.

However, it is not clear what portfolio Fadnavis would be given.

Over the last two years, Fadnavis has shown a commanding performance and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to have impressed with his work. Recently, BJP swept the Municipal corporations polls across the Maharashtra, while falling just a handful of seats short to form government in India’s richest civic body, BMC.

Meanwhile, Patil has said that he is happy with where he is now and no such development is taking place.

In Goa, three MLAs from the Goa Forward Party, three from the MGP and two Independents have pledged their support to Parrikar.

The BJP, which came second by winning 13 seats in the 40-member assembly after the Congress (17 seats), managed to garner support from other parties and Independents to attain majority under Parrikar.
